Work With Us
We are looking for like minded individuals who would like to build a long standing career working with cats as a self employed sub contracted cat sitter working under the NCSS name. We are currently looking for people based in the following areas:
Lenwade/Ringland/Taverham
Horsford/Spixworth
Wroxham/Salhouse/Rackheath
Thorpe End/Little Plumstead/Great Plumstead
Blofield/Brundall
Mulbarton
Wymondham/Hethersett/Attleborough
This will likely begin with ad hoc hours 7 days a week, anywhere that fits you between the hours of 9-2pm (as bookings can span over a week) as we will be working to expand the NCSS name. This isn’t a stop gap job, we are looking for people who want to do this long term.
If you love cats, have excellent common sense skills and can give a first class service to both our cat clients and their humans then this may be the role for you!
Please read the notes and job description below before filling out the application. We have a large volume of applicants, and so by filling this application out you realise that we may not have a role straight away but will keep your details on file for future opportunities
Does this sound like you?
You will be working with cats of different characters and feel competent in handling nervous and anxious cats, and especially dealing with indoor cats being kept inside. You are able to recognise when a cat is unwell and use foresight in contacting owners and liaising with vets to get them seen. Experience with cats on a personal level is essential, and you will ideally have previous experience working with cats, and you may possess an animal care or behaviour related qualification. You might have experience in administering medication to cats orally, via food related tricks or via injection and understand you sometimes have to think outside the box when approaching this!
You are passionate about animal welfare and feel love towards them. You have a high attention to detail and working standards and will apply this by following the care & visit notes given by the cat owners and myself. You are highly trustworthy and understand the responsibility of being trusted with the keys to clients homes as well as their pets' welfare.
You have excellent common sense skills and an ability to think outside the box (eg I have previously had to climb over fences because of dodgy door locks, fix a door handle that fell off in my hand so that I knew the door was locked before it could be fixed, set up cameras for outside cats that had not been seen etc). You have excellent communication skills and an ability to use a fully integrated pet sitting system from your smart phone and you’re good at time management. You are responsible and trustworthy (you will be expected to hold keys for your clients and be a key drop location)
You understand that the role is to cover holidays and so need to be able to work flexible hours including weekends, school holidays and bank holidays including the Christmas, New Year & Easter periods. The job is busiest when other people holiday, so if you go away a lot this isn’t the job for you. You will not get sick or holiday pay as you will be self employed - if you have a booking on you are expected to fulfill it.
You are reliable, punctual, organised, patient, friendly and professional.
You will need to do client meetings to collect keys before new bookings, so should be personable and have the ability to build rapport with clients on these short meetings
Being able to drive and owning your own car/moped is essential. Knowing your area well is also preferred but not vital as you'll soon get used to regular routes! Unfortunately driving (or riding, a moped or motorcycle) is required - the visits are sometimes spread out which would mean without your own transport you will likely be travelling more then actually on visits.
Rates of pay are per visit depending on area but work out at well over national minimum wage to account for fuel and car costs. You will need to provide your own pet sitting insurance (tax deductible and around £80 a year)
You will need to be self employed and registered with HMRC (or willing to do so - we can help you get started with this if needed). This will mean having the initiative to file and pay your own taxes, organise your own income and expense accounts and realise that sickness and holiday is not paid.
You will be given full training on visit protocol and systems via shadowing one of us and the opportunity to further your knowledge with educational courses if you wish.
Appealing? Fill out the form below and we will be in touch when we have available opportunities
